The Wasatch and Uinta montane forests cover the high country of northeastern Utah and the southwestern corner of Wyoming — the Wasatch Range above the Salt Lake City + Provo metro corridor, plus the east-west-oriented Uinta Range (the highest peaks in Utah, Kings Peak to 13,528 ft). Quaking aspen + Engelmann spruce + subalpine fir on the moister north and east slopes, mountain-mahogany + Gambel oak + Douglas fir on the drier south- and west-facing exposures.
