The South Central Rockies forests cover western Wyoming, eastern Idaho, and southwestern Montana — including most of Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks plus the Wind River, Absaroka, and Beartooth ranges. Lodgepole pine dominates much of the post-fire successional landscape; subalpine fir, Engelmann spruce, and whitebark pine cap the higher elevations. The headwaters of the Snake, Yellowstone, and Green rivers all sit here.
