Ginkgo biloba
Un arbre d'ombrage fossile vivant — le seul membre survivant d'un groupe végétal antique, cultivé pour ses feuilles distinctives bilobées en éventail qui virent à un jaune doré éclatant en automne. Originaire du sud de la Chine, il tolère les sols argileux, alcalins et acides, la pollution atmosphérique, la chaleur et la plupart des conditions urbaines, ce qui en fait un robuste arbre de rue et de pelouse. Il est dioïque (arbres mâles et femelles séparés) ; les pépiniéristes vendent principalement des clones mâles car les arbres femelles laissent tomber des enveloppes séminales charnues dégageant une odeur nauséabonde.
