Une plante vivace rhizomateuse rampante et couvre-sol d'origine eurasiatique, de basse stature et aimant l'ombre, cultivée pour ses fleurs blanches odorantes, pendantes et en forme de clochettes au printemps tardif. NC State Extension décrit des feuilles basales elliptiques appariées de 5-10 inches de long et des grappes arquées de petites cloches blanches à six lobes (environ 1/3 inch) portées à 6-10 inches de hauteur au-dessus du feuillage. Très prisé pour couvrir les sols ombragés et pour son parfum, mais il est HAUTEMENT TOXIQUE dans toutes ses parties et ses rhizomes denses peuvent se propager de façon agressive et étouffer les autres plantes — un couvre-sol magnifique mais dangereux et potentiellement envahissant qui doit être implanté avec soin.
